Overthrown And Destroyed

While Jesus was preaching about the end of days, he predicted that Jerusalem would be overthrown and burnt to the ground.

Mark 13:1. And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! 2. And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? There shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Luke 19:43. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44. And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Luke 21:24. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Almost 40 years after his death, Jerusalem was completely seized and destroyed by the Romans.

The Siege of Jerusalem in the year 70 AD was a decisive event in the First Jewish-Roman War. It was followed by the fall of Masada in 73. The Roman army, led by the future Emperor Titus, with Tiberius Julius Alexander as his second-in-command, besieged and conquered the city of Jerusalem, which had been occupied by its Jewish defenders in 66. The city and its famous Temple were completely destroyed.

Josephus claims that 1,100,000 people were killed during the siege, of which a majority were Jewish. 97,000 were captured and enslaved, including Simon Bar Giora and John of Gischala. Many fled to areas around the Mediterranean. Titus reportedly refused to accept a wreath of victory, as there is "no merit in vanquishing people forsaken by their own God".

Restored Back To Israel

God punished the Jews, but just like he restored Israel, he will do the same to Jerusalem.

Zechariah 8:8. And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

Luke 21:24. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

First we must realize that Jerusalem is punished along with Israel, but seperately.

Jeremiah 25:12. And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and theland of Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

When Ezekiel prophecied about the House of Israel, God told him that it is also for Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 4:7. Therefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it.

So when was Jerusalem's 70 year punishment up? The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia tells us that it began in 587 B.C. -

2.Silent Years. The history of Judah between the destruction of Jerusalem (587 B.C.) and the return of the first group of exiles following the decree of Cyrus (536 B.C.) is largly blank.

If you take the same formula that is used to figure out Israels rebirth (see Israel) and apply it to Jerusalem, we can then discover the year Jerusalem was put back in control of the Jews.

390 + 40 = 430 Years of Punishment

587 B.C. – 517 B.C.(Desolation Of Jerusalem)

430 – 70 = 360 Years of Punishment Remain

360 x 7(God’s Extra Punishment) = 2,520 Biblical Years

Lunar Calendar = 360 Days in a Year

2,520 x 360 = 907,200 Days

Modern Calendar = 365.25 Days in a Year

907,200 / 365.25 = 2483.78 Calendar Years

517 B.C. + 2483 + 1(year between 1 B.C and 1 A.D.) = 1967 Recapture Of Jerusalem

During what is known as the Six-Day War, Israel recaptured Jerusalem from the gentiles.

During the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel captured East Jerusalem and asserted sovereignty over the entire city. Jewish access to holy sites was restored, while the Temple Mount remained under the jurisdiction of an Islamic waqf.

Obedience

When God declared his punishments for disobedience, he also stated what he would do if the Jews behaved -

Leviticus 26:7. And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8. And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

The Six-Day War was hailed as a miracle. Israel was outnumbered 2 to 1, and they came out on top in only a matter of six days!

Israel - 264,000 (incl. 214,000 reserve troops), 300 combat aircraft, 800 tanks

Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq - 547,000, 957 combat aircraft, 2,504 tanks

The Israeli casualties of the war, far from Israel's heavy pre-war estimates, were actually quite low. The following casualties are as confirmed by Israel: 800 Israeli soldiers were killed, 338 on the Egyptian front, 550 on the Jordanian front, and 141 on the Syrian front; 2,563 Israelis were wounded, and 46 Israeli aircraft were also destroyed. 15 Israeli soldiers were captured. The loss of 800 soldiers was a heavy price to pay for an army the size of Israel's. However, before the war, Israel had expected to lose many more. General Moshe Dayan had estimated that the IDF would have 30,000 casualties in the Golan Heights alone. Arab casualties were much higher: 6,000-10,000 Arab soldiers were killed and 10,000-15,000 were wounded. Over 9,800 Egyptian soldiers were listed as killed, wounded or missing in action. Jordan lost 700 soldiers killed, with around 2,500 wounded. Syrian losses were 2,500 dead and 5,000 wounded. Iraq lost 10 soldiers killed and another 30 wounded. Altogether, 6,000 Arab soldiers were captured, and 400 Arab aircraft were lost.

Burden On The World

There is a price for the restoration of Jerusalem -

Zechariah 12:2. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

You don't have to be a biblical scholar to realize the tension surrounding Jerusalem. All you have to do is turn on your TV and you are bound to find it in the news. The Jews, Christians, and Muslims all stake a claim to the rights of all Jerusalem. They have managed to each control a piece of the city, but the tensions sooner or later will cause chaos.

However, the takeover of East Jerusalem was met with international criticism. Following the passing of Israel's Jerusalem Law, which declared Jerusalem, "complete and united", the capital of Israel, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution that declared the law "a violation of international law" and requested all member states to withdraw all remaining embassies from the city.

The status of the city, and especially its holy places, remains a core issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Jewish settlers have taken over historic sites and built on land confiscated from Arabs in order to expand the Jewish presence in East Jerusalem, while prominent Islamic leaders have insisted that Jews have no historical connection to Jerusalem. Palestinian Arabs envision East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state, and the city's borders have been the subject of bilateral talks.

Nations Against City

God said he would make Jerusalem the center of controversy, but he will protect the the most holy city in the world -

Zechariah 12:9. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Countless peace meetings have come about trying to bring ease in the Middle East.

The Madrid Conference was hosted by the government of Spain and co-sponsored by the USA and the USSR. It convened on October 30, 1991 and lasted for three days. It was an early attempt by the international community to start a peace process through negotiations involving Israel and the Palestinians as well as Arab countries including Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. In the aftermath of the 1991 Gulf War, US President George H.W. Bush and his Secretary of State James Baker formulated the framework of objectives, and together with the Soviet Union extended a letter of invitation, dated October 30, 1991 to Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and the Palestinians.

Wikipedia, Madrid Conference of 1991

But when you try and split apart what God has brought together, there will be hell to pay.

Over the past 15 years, since 1991 when the Israeli-Arab peace train began at the Madrid Spain Peace Conference to work on the idea of Israel trading its Hebrew Land for Arab Peace, there has been an obvious connection between whenever America pressures Israel at these meetings to give away its Land and natural disasters that follow immediately in the United States. This is not some fancy theory, but a hard fact. Listed in this article is documented evidence since 1991 that pressuring Israel to giveaway its Jewish Land to the Muslim Arabs results in immediate Judgment from God Himself

1. October 30, 1991 : The Madrid Conference opens with President Bush pushing Israel to consider a " land for peace" idea. Israel gives away its God-given Land to the Arabs for Peace. As this conference begins, the perfect storm develops in the North Atlantic. This storm travels from east to west, creating the largest waves ever recorded in that region and crashes into the New England coast, causing much destruction

2. August 23, 1992 : The Israeli-Arab peace talks move to Washington DC where Israel is again pressured to give up its Land to the Arabs. In Florida at the same time Hurricane Andrew forms-hits South Florida in what becomes the worst natural disaster to ever hit America. Causing $30 billion in damage and leaving 180,000 people homeless

3. January 16, 1994 : President Clinton meets with Syria's president Assad to discuss giving away the Israeli Golan Heights area to the Arabs, within 24 hours a powerful 6.9 earthquake hits Southern California. This quake becomes the 2nd most destructive disaster to hit America besides Hurricane Andrew

4. September 28, 1998 : America once again in meetings with Israel comes up with a plan for Israel to give up some of its West Bank Land( Judah and Samaria) to the Arabs. President Clinton meets with Yasser Arafat to complete this land deal and to discuss declaring a Palestinian State on Israeli land. At the same time, Hurricane George slams into the US Gulf Coast with 110 mile winds. Causing 1 billion dollars damage

5. October 15-22, 1998 : As the Israeli PM and Arafat are meeting at the Maryland Wye River Plantation to promote the same Land for Peace ideas, the State of Texas was hit with severe rain storms, flooding 25% of the State

6. May 3, 1999 : Yasser Arafat with President Clinton scheduled on this day in Washington DC to declare a Palestinian Muslim State on Israeli Land with Jerusalem as their Arab Capital. A Powerful Super Tornado system with winds at 316 mph sweeps across the American Mid-West hits hours before the Declaration was to be announced. This natural disaster postponed the announcement till later on in the year

7. October 11, 1999 : Jewish residents in 15 West Bank Israeli towns are evicted from their homes under an American/Israeli agreement. The next day a 7.1 earthquake hits the American Southwest in the fifth most powerful earthquake in the 20th Century

8. September 11, 2001 : at 11am that morning, the American UN Ambassador was to present a final proposed agreement to the United Nations assembly for the establishment of a Palestinian Arab State on Israeli Jewish Land. At 9 am on 9/11/01 terrorists attacked the Twin Towers in NYC, closing down the City and the UN. The proposed agreement was never voted on

9. August 2005 : An American/Israeli plan called Disengagement was put into effect - ripping 9,000 Israeli citizens away from their Jewish homes in the Gaza Strip. These Israelis were made both homeless and jobless because of this action. As these Israeli residents were being forced from their homes, Hurricane Katrina formed in the Atlantic ocean and hit the Gulf Coast- New Orleans. Killing 2,000 residents, and leaving many homeless and jobless

God has put the spotlight on Jerusalem. It is the center of attention now until the end of days.
