God Of This World?

By Matthew Ficarelli

Why do good things happen to bad people? Why is there so much evil in the world? There are two reasons why this is so. One is man has been given the gift of freewill by God.

Genesis. 2:19. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

This is the first record of the existence of a mans choice. God told Adam to name all of the animals, and he did.

The second reason why there is evil in the world is because Satan is the god of this world. Sounds like blasphemy right? But this couldn’t be anymore true. This is straight out of the Word of God -

John 12:31. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John 14:30. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

John 16:11. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Ephesians 2:2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

II Corinthians 4:4. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I John 4:4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Satan has control over the kingdoms, weather, pain, suffering, and even death.

Job 1:6. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. 7.And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8. And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9. Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10. Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12. And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

Luke 4:5. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Hebrews 2:14. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

I John 3:8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Why would God make a storm just to hurt man? Jesus knows of Satan’s power. Why do you think he had to “rebuke” the storm?

Mark 4:37. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

How does Satan have all of this power? It all began in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 1:28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

So God gave man freewill and dominion over all the earth. It truly was a paradise. But by Satan’s deceitfulness, he managed to trick man into loosing his dominion.

Genesis 3:4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

They have now eaten from the sacred tree of life that is in the middle of the Garden. They now know what good is AND what evil is. They knew that if they were to eat from the tree, death would come upon all of the human race -

Genesis 2:17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God doesn’t go back on his word. When he found out, he initiated the process of death -

Genesis 3:19. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

From this one mistake, Satan now has his grip on the world.

Acts 10:38. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Galatians 1:4. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

I John 5:19. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

Satan now has the power to spread evil, sin, and suffering. He is going to try and bring as many people down to hell with him as he can.

Matthew 17:18. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

Mark 1:23. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

Luke 4:38. And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 39. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

God loves man so much that he has given him some of his own abilities such has reason, freewill, and the power to create. Our point of existence is to experience the journey that is life with the gifts God has given us. We have the choice to come unto the knowledge of the truth, or to follow the path into eternal darkness. If God would openly reveal himself to the world, then that would defeat the purpose of our existence. If God just made us in a earthly paradise, would we truly know what we have? We would all just take it for granted. How can we truly know the love of God unless we know the hate of Satan. God won’t leave us hanging in life. God talks to each of us everyday, it just depends on who is listening.
